Headboard Advice
When Lisa, a classmate buddy, found out about my creative side, she immediately asked me about painting a headboard on her wall. Before she even finished her question, I thought of a tear sheet from the Spring 2008 Do It Yourself issue. Through the years, I have amassed a huge assortment of tear sheets from my favorite magazines so to remember one page, from the hundreds of pages I have saved, is rather amazing, if I do say so myself. Why not make a headboard that you can hang on the wall, I responded. “Oh no, me?” while pointing to herself “handy I am not, but I can handle a paintbrush”.
Having recently made a headboard, I tried to convince her how easy the process is. A few months ago, my husband, Glen and I made one for Jeanie, a former coworker and now friend. Glen went to Home Depot and got a sheet of plywood cut to her specifications. She came over to our house, brown vinyl fabric in tow and I pulled out my upholstery supplies and we went to work. We had a great time making it. Jeanie is a fun, upbeat person that will keep you laughing. She has that stand-up comedic presence about her. A few days later, we installed it at her home using a French cleat to hang it on the wall. Take a look.

When I see Lisa in class tonight I will show her my tear sheets, as well as this picture, and hopefully inspire her to take her first DIY adventure.
