Shelter Magazines, What is Going On?
A silent joy overcomes me when I receive one of my shelter publications in the mail. I pause immediately to study the front cover while resisting the urge to open it. Thrilled with the anticipation of its contents, I place it in a basket, next to my bed, until I can have some uninterrupted “me time” to devour every page. Reading them is like taking a vacation or should I say “staycation”. I am in that present moment mode with a smile on my face. They inspire me and give me ideas while stirring up my own creativity. Sadly, however, three of them have recently ceased publication. Home Companion ended with its December/January 2009 issue, followed by Domino Magazine (March 2009) and then Country Home (April 2009). How unfortunate, they were great magazines. I am now left with Do It Yourself, Creative Home and O at Home.
