Creative Home Says Goodbye Too

Okay, so last week I got the pink card from Creative Home Magazine, one of my two remaining shelter subscriptions. The Summer 2009 issue was the last one. It’s been a reoccurring bad dream saying goodbye to O at Home after losing Home Companion, Domino Magazine and Country Home. Do It Yourself is my only remaining shelter publication; however rather then dwell on what I don’t have, I rather look at what’s ahead.

I am glad that my subscription to Creative Home was replaced with Ready Made magazine which is DIY mixed with home fashion. I frequented their website and know that I will enjoy the magazine as well. The Hearst Corporation closed the doors of Victoria Magazine in 2003 and has since been relaunched by Hoffman Media in October 2007. The original publication featured creative women and their entrepreneurial endeavors which I found so inspiring . What can I say, sometimes you just want to read about people who get excited about the creative process. I am waiting for my trial issue to come in the mail and hope that it lives up to its former reputation. Also there is a buzz in the air about a new publication, Flea Market Style scheduled for early Spring 2010. Word is this will be a joint effort with Mathew Mead, author and contributing editor to various women and shelter publications and Ki Nassauer, a junk market style trendsetter. I will look forward to that as well.

So with the demise of all these great publications, is the glass half full or half empty? As much as I will miss the great content and personal enjoyment, my glass remains half full – the only way to live life to the fullest.
