Great DIY Finishes at the Country Living Fair

This is the last of a three part post on the Country Living Fair. In terms of DIY, I saved the best for last. I always get excited about renew and reuse products that are instrumental in keeping things out of the landfill. Renew and reuse (a.k.a. “green”) projects are fun, creative and empowering.

I attended a Caromal Colours® class and it was fantastic. The teacher was informative and entertaining, providing “how to” steps with a strong comedic delivery. Through the laughter, she demonstrated her Classic “Perfect” Plaster and Textured Basecoat products on a sample board and kitchen cabinet. I was really impressed with the products because of their versatility, ease of use and lack of surface preparation necessary. The only requirement is a clean surface; no sanding or stripping required. The texture base coat can be used on plastic, tile, metal, glass and wood. How fantastic is that? Available in 11 colors, they can be mixed to create even more color options. For more information about these products and to learn about their gilding, glazing and stenciling products, I encourage you to visit CaromalColours.com.

Real easy “no brainer” cabinet door makeover

Rust-Oleum® was also present. Even though I have used their products many times, I couldn’t help but get inspired by their sample pieces on display. Their product line, I discovered, includes Dry Erase and Chalk Board paints that can be tinted to 12 colors. They even have a Specialty Countertop paint for renewing countertops that have seen better days. Be sure and visit Rustoleum.com to see their entire product line and the many color options available. I walked away with great enthusiasm, project cards in hand and ideas for a few furnishings residing in my garage that are just screaming for makeovers.
