DIY isn’t Always Easy
I was immersed in all things DIY last week and neglected to break and wish you a nice weekend. I apologize. I hope you had a nice one and got to do something that you wanted to do, whatever that may be.
Last week I ran into some problems with retrofitting the legs of my still “almost finished” dining room table. It remains to be a work in progress that I thought I would have been finished weeks ago. Hopefully things will fall into place soon.
I am just about finished painting my dining room chairs. I decided to go with a glossy white. I am ready to do the upholstery; however, I have yet to find the fabric. Fabric stores are not very plentiful in New York anymore. Many of the independent stores have closed. It gets increasingly difficult to find just the right fabric for a project. I am looking for a retro vintage fabric in a blue and chocolate brown color way. I went to The Fabric Mill in Plainville on Saturday hoping to find fabric but had no luck. If I can get into the city, there are a couple of big upholstery stores I would like to try. In the meantime, I have resorted to searching the internet but buying fabric online is tricky. It’s hard to determine the true color from a photo on a screen and is often very different from the actual color.
Although DIY can be frustrating at times, no matter how the end result plays out, it evolves into a rewarding and empowering learning experience.
How about you? What do you do when you get stuck during a creative project?
