John Robshaw at NY Design Meetup
John Robshaw was the guest speaker at Janurary’s gathering of the NY Design Meetup (Apartment Therapy Offline). I treasure the opportunity to listen to established designers like Rachel Ashwell, Jonathan Adler. On Wednesday, John Robshaw’s talked about his journey into the design world. These up close and personal gatherings are always phenomenal.
After spending a lot of time in India, John Robshaw familiarized himself with the cottage industries and over the years developed close relationships with the artisans who produce his designs. His unique product line including bedding, quilts, blankets, pillows, rugs is an infusion of cultures, bold color and handmade details. His prints are achieved using traditional print blocking techniques. The beauty of his upscale designs is in the imperfections which occur as a result of the handmade process. In a way, you can look at it as DIY production. Here is a hint of his design style:

He is definitely one of my favorite designers. You might want to check out johnrobshaw.com to view his current product line.
